This is Abhishek, CEO &
co-founder of Dyte, and Iโm stoked
to send this yearโs first newsletter
your way!
|
To begin, I wanted to thank you all
for your support and for helping us
have an amazing 2021 at Dyte! We're
looking forward to even greater
things in 2022 and are super excited
to have you be a part of our
journey! I want to wish you and your
loved ones a very happy and
successful 2022 ๐
|
2021 has been nothing short of an
exciting roller coaster ride for
us here at Dyte! We went from being an idea and
a vision to become a live product
- launching our SDKs across
platforms and seeing more than 20x growth, connecting over 300k people
across 300+ cities
spread across all continents, and
we're just getting started
๐
|
Being a developer-first company,
continuous improvement of our
product remains our key priority
and we have some exciting new
features to share with you this
month. We suggest you update to
the latest version of our SDKs if
you haven't yet:
|
Mobile SDK
-
Improved connection
reliability:
Our Mobile SDK got multiple
stability updates. These include
improved connection reliability
and better audio experience
especially with bluetooth and
wired headsets.
-
Polished UI:
We polished the UI of the SDK
revamping the setup screen,
adding an optional new grid
layout for 1:1 calls, and other
minor UI enhancements throughout
the SDK.
-
Improved experience with
Dynamic Preset Change
API:
We also improved the experience
for customers using the Dynamic
Preset Change API, making the
preset change smoother and
error-free.
|
One way live streaming
APIs
|
Introducing our 1-way live
streaming APIs
that allow you to stream any RTMP
stream to millions of users via FB, YouTube,Twitch, Twitter
etc. Apart from this we can also let
you ingest RTMP in and play the
stream on Dyte itself, which gives
you the ability to have a call
with people partially on video
call and partially on livestream,
where you can switch privileges
based on your requirement. You can
go live in a few simple
steps:
-
Create a live stream using the API
call
-
Add the RTMP input received from
the response into your service.
-
Ta-da ๐บ, enjoy your stream.
|
We have updated our developer
portal to provide you with better
observability of your active and
past sessions. You can search and filter
sessions
to understand details like
participant count, duration,
starting time and current
status.
|
We heard you! We have optimized
our recording feature which now
allows you to trigger recording by a single
API call with almost no waiting
time. The time it took for the
recording to start, from the point
the request was made has been
reduced over 3x to less than 5
seconds. You can now start
recording your meetings without
any inconvenience and no
delay.
|
Boosting our current
Plugins
|
We have upgraded our Remote
Browser plugin, Dyte's proprietary
plugin which allows the users to
be able to co-browse the web
together during a video call.
Users can now access the Remote
Browser almost instantly, without
any waiting time, a considerable
improvement from the previous
loading time of 10-30
seconds.
|
Our
Discord community
is now 250+ members strong. It was
awesome to see our community members
helping each other out and
contributing towards Dyte. Our top
contributor this month was a young
student from Canada who built a
Vue.js wrapper on top of the Dyte
SDK. We expect to see more such
amazing contributions from our
community in 2022.
|
Some other key highlights of this
month are:
-
Github Externship 2021: We have partnered with Github for
their
GitHub India Externship
program
which has given us a chance to
interact and work with some of the
most talented young developers out
there and we feel overwhelmed by
the quantity and quality of
submissions. With this externship,
our goal is to give back to the
community by developing
open-source projects to extend the
tools we use at Dyte like TypeORM,
Moleculer, Express, OpenAPI.
Additionally, we will also be
conducting security research
around popular WebRTC libraries
and aim to identify bugs and roll
out fixes for the same.
-
CommCon Virtual 2021:
Dyte was the official gold sponsor
of
CommCon Virtual 2021
which is one of the best annual
events focused on real-time audio
and video communication and
provides an exciting platform for
all RTC enthusiasts. The speaker
line up was stellar as usual and
we had a great time interacting
with everyone and learning
together.
